Renowned record label executive, songwriter, and producer, Mthokozi Khathi, also known as DJ Tira, fell victim to a burglary when intruders raided his Afrotainment studio, making off with a collection of expensive recording studio equipment.
The award-winning DJ and producer revealed on Thursday that thieves stole expensive equipment including studio monitors, keyboards, microphones, digital mixers and hard drives with music files that have not been released.
In a desperate bid to retrieve his belongings, he’s reaching out to the public for any information on the stolen goods or the perpetrators.
As an incentive, he’s offering a reward of R25,000.00 to anyone who can assist.
DJ Tira says that of utmost importance are his hard drives containing numerous unreleased tracks.
“The hard drives have unreleased music, and if we can’t get them back, it’ll be a big problem.
“We lost everything in the studio, and we want it all back but what I need more are the hard drives because that’s where we save all our work. It’s like our engine when we work.”
According to a report by the Durban North Police, the suspects entered the premises both by door and window.
They stole both equipment as well as an undisclosed amount of money.
