Kgothatso Montjane And Yui Kamiji Crowned Wimbledon Women’s Wheelchair Doubles Champions
Limpopo born Kgothatso Montjane from Seshego and Yui Kamiji of Japan won the wheelchair women’s doubles final at Wimbledon at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London, England, on Sunday.
Montjane and Kamiji beat Dutch women Diede de Groot and Jiske Griffioen in straight sets 6-4 6-4 to win the title.
Last year, Montjane and Kamiji had come second in the world-renowned grass court competition.
The two began their Wimbledon campaign with a 6-3 6-2 victory over American Dana Mathewson and Japanese player Manami Tanaka on Thursday in the quarter-finals, and winning the semi-final against Chinese duo Zhu Zhenzhen and Xiaohui Li with a 6-2 6-2 victory.
The pair have enjoyed success together, reaching at least eight finals and clinching the 2023 US Open and the 2023 French Open titles.

Montjane is currently ranked Number 1 in South Africa in the women’s disabled division, and has earned numerous accolades both locally and internationally, solidifying her status as an inspiring sports icon.
