Limpopo Department of Health has hired 333 health professionals. This comes after 800 unemployed doctors who recently petitioned the National Department of Health for jobs.
Earlier this year, Health Minister Joe Phaahla had announced hundreds of unemployed doctors who had completed their community service training would be employed – by April – after marches and protests around the issue, and that Minister of Finance Enoch Godongwana would work it out in the budget.
On Tuesday, Limpopo Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba presided over the welcoming of 333 healthcare professionals. The appointment included Medical Officers, Professional Nurses, Pharmacists, Occupational Therapists, Clinical Psychologists, Diagnostic Radiographers, and EMS Station Managers.
The MEC emphasised the importance of understanding the principles of public service and Batho Pele.
These professionals, fresh from completing their studies, will strengthen and enhance health service delivery in the province.
The new employees will be taken through a robust and rigorous orientation program to keep them abreast with the workings of the Limpopo Department of Health.
