Miss Hilary on her new Single “Pandza” and upcoming EP titled “Best of Both Worlds”

Rising star Miss Hilary is excited to share her unique blend of Tsonga music with the world. Her first single, titled “Pandza,” featuring Semifree, is now available on all digital music platforms.

The song presents vibrant rhythms and melodies of Tsonga music, combined with her own artistic flair.

Miss Hilary, real name Tinyiko Hilary Khoza, started her music journey around 2014 when she sang in the school choir.

She began recording Tsonga traditional music with her family and secured a gig as a dancer for Percy Mfana.

In 2018, her dancing career grew as she became Sho Madjozi’s backup dancer. She has since collaborated with artists like Rich Mnisi and Makhadzi.

The 23-year-old Xitsonga dancer and singer draws inspiration from her cultural roots and credits her grandfather for influencing her musical preferences.

“My grandfather greatly influenced my taste in music. I grew up exposed to a variety of traditional music and old school pop music. Since then, I have developed a keen appreciation for the fusion of traditional and contemporary elements in music.”

“Best of Both Worlds” EP

Her upcoming EP debut EP titled “Best of Both Worlds” is set to release on August 4th, 2023, Miss Hilary aims to incorporate diverse influences into her music.

The EP promises to be a harmonious fusion of traditional Tsonga sounds, contemporary beats, and international influences.

She has collaborated with creatives from South Africa, Nigeria, and Namibia, to crafted a project that transcends borders and genres.

“I incorporated elements of Afropop and dance into my music because that’s my authentic self. It’s a genre that stands out, where the language remains familiar, but the overall approach, the process we followed, and even my singing style are genuinely distinct.”

In addition to her musical pursuits, Miss Hilary holds a triple major in politics, philosophy, and economics from the University of South Africa.

Her collection of accolades includes the prestigious 2022 National Heritage Council Golden Shield Award for “Best Heritage Influencer.”

She aims to collaborate with more Maskandi artists and other influential figures in the music industry, including Malome Vector.
