Trio Granted Bail for Contravention of the Animal Diseases Act
Three suspects, Maniki Makhado (25), Henry Chuene (33), and Maria Tlou (48) have appeared before the Musina Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, for contravention of Animal Diseases Act- Illegal movement in a control measurement.
They were all granted R5000-00 each and will appear again on 05 November 2024 for further investigations.
The suspects were arrested by members of SAPS Stock Theft and Endengered Species (STES) Unit in Musina on Tuesday, 15 October 2024, following a positive tip-off.
According to reports, the suspects were found transporting 186 goats and 16 sheep without necessary documents along the Pontdrift road to Musina.

The suspects, who were driving trailers, failed to provide information regarding the origin and the destination of the livestock. They were placed under arrest.
Following the arrest, police seized the livestock and two bakkies with two trailers. Further police investigations will reveal the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has welcomed the arrest and applauded the members for recovering the livestock.
The Police investigations are ongoing.
