Leon Schuster Faces New Health Challenge After Second Fall

Renowned comedian Leon Schuster is dealing with a new health challenge after having a second surgery because of a fall at his home while still recovering from his first surgery.

The 72-year-old comedian initially underwent physiotherapy to reclaim his mobility in August 2023 after sustaining injuries from a fall off a van during the filming of ‘Mr Bones 3’.

In a recent interview with YOU magazine, Schuster revealed that his path to recovery encountered a significant hurdle with another unfortunate fall.

“I’ve been through a tough time, really rough. It’s been like hell. I’m feeling a bit down. This ordeal has dragged on for too long – almost 10 months since my first back surgery,” he shared.

Describing the events leading up to the second fall, Schuster recounted a disoriented awakening followed by an accident resulting in excruciating pain.

“I got up, lost my bearings, and had an accident. Then came excruciating pain. It felt like my back could be chopped off and fed to the dogs. I lay there, screaming,” he narrated.

Despite the challenges, Schuster maintained an attitude of gratitude, seeking solace in humor amidst adversity.

“I’m not in the best place, but I’m grateful. So, I try to maintain a straight posture and keep my spirits up with a bit of light-heartedness,” he remarked.

Schuster is slated for another surgical procedure, contingent upon shedding 15kg to reduce further complications.

“The doctor mentioned that he can only alleviate 50% of my pain. It’s a delicate procedure, and any misstep could lead to severe consequences. I lie awake at night, wondering if I’ll pull through,”
