Rehabilitation Centre Owner Arrested for Alleged Murder of Patient
A 30-year-old man, the owner of a rehabilitation centre in Limpopo’s Mopani District, has been arrested and charged with the murder of a 29-year-old male patient who died after being admitted to Mankweng Hospital in critical condition.
According to police reports, on 2 July 2025 at around 14:00, the suspect allegedly collected the victim from his residence in Ga-Sekgopo village and took him to the rehabilitation centre situated under the Modjadjiskloof policing area.
“It is alleged that the victim was assaulted over his body and later locked inside an isolated room while swollen and with visible bruises. The victim was reportedly unable to walk or bathe,” Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said

The victim was returned to his home on 10 July 2025 and rushed to Mankweng Hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition on 12 July 2025.
He succumbed to his injuries on 14 July 2025.
“A case of inquest was opened at Mankweng Police Station following his death,” said Colonel Ledwaba.
A forensic post-mortem conducted on 18 July 2025 confirmed that the deceased had sustained severe injuries.
Following the findings, police changed the case from an inquest to murder on 21 July 2025, and the matter was transferred to Modjadjiskloof police for further investigation.
An immediate manhunt was launched by the Mopani Tracking Team in collaboration with Modjadjiskloof police, leading to the arrest of the suspect on 22 July 2025.
“The suspect was successfully apprehended and charged with murder,” said Colonel Ledwaba.
The accused appeared before the Modjadjiskloof District Court on Thursday, 24 July 2025, facing a charge of murder.
The case has been reminded to 31st of July for formal bail application.
