Thobela FM Kids Presenter JJ Menu has died

Thobela FM mourns the passing of its kids show presenter, Johannah Sebolaishi Seloga, known to her listeners as JJ Menu.

JJ Menu passed away on Monday after a prolonged illness, leaving behind a legacy of joy and entertainment for children and families.

JJ Menu joined Thobela FM in 2007, where she endeared herself to audiences through her vibrant and engaging hosting of various shows. Among her notable contributions were programs such as “Thoba Matswalo” and “Re mmogo.”

However, her most cherished show was the beloved “Lesang bana,” which aired every Sunday, and she also played a pivotal role as the producer of “Moremogolo.”

Madikana Matjila, the business manager of SABC radio Limpopo combo, expressed the station’s condolences and said they’ve lost a dedicated and talented member of the team.

“We all are hurt by JJ’s passing and wish to send our heartfelt condolences to the family and all our listeners. We hurt also that millions of children and families have lost a servant, as JJ delivered with passion our children’s religious programming, as well as our all-time favorite Moremogolo where she served as a producer. We wish to lastly thank all our listeners for sending us their messages of support in this difficult time,” said Madikana.

ABOUT JJ MENU

JJ Menu, born on July 25, 1984, in Mokopane, had humble beginnings in the streets of Mamelodi East before returning to her hometown, where her journey with radio began.

In 2005, she embarked on her radio career as a Presenter, Producer, and News Reader at a local radio station in Mokopane. Her passion for working with children through radio and community engagement was evident.

In August 2007, she joined Thobela FM as the kids’ show presenter (Mahlasedi).JJ Menu was not only a radio personality but also a motivational speaker, program director, and events organizer.

She was a mother of two and was actively involved in various projects focused on children’s issues. Among her favorite books was “A Return to Love” by Marianne Williamson.

Listeners can remember JJ Menu through her shows, including “Lesang bana” (kiddies show) every Sunday from 07:00 to 08:00, “Thobamatswalo” at 23:00-00:00, and “Remmogo” from 03:00 to 06:00 every early Saturday morning.

Details about a memorial service and Seloga’s funeral service will be shared in due course.
